Independent · Before you buy

Buying a used car?
Have it inspected first.

An independent pre-purchase inspection protects you from hidden defects and inflated prices – we are not tied to any dealer or garage.

What we inspect

Bodywork & paint

Accident traces, paint thickness, corrosion, gap dimensions.

Technology & mechanics

Engine, transmission, chassis, brakes, fluids.

Electronics

Fault memory readout and function checks.

Documents & history

Service record, registration document, mileage plausibility.

Test drive

Driving behaviour, noises, assistance systems.

Market value assessment

Is the asking price justified? Basis for negotiation.

Independent means working only for you

UnfallExperten Team GmbH is not affiliated with a garage, dealer or insurer. The inspection represents only the prospective buyer's interests and records the actual condition before any contract is signed.

Who benefits most?

  • Private purchases – warranty is usually excluded; the inspection is your only protection
  • Rare or expensive vehicles – where mistakes cost the most
  • Vehicles with accident history – was the repair carried out properly?
  • Online purchases – when you cannot inspect the vehicle yourself before committing

Other situations with particular risk

  • Many previous keepers or incomplete records: gaps and frequent ownership changes are warning signs.
  • Imports: history can be harder to verify.
  • Family vehicles: reliability and safety take priority over appearance.
  • Former lease or rental vehicles: intensive use deserves closer inspection.

Common buying mistake

A good impression, a polished body and an online valuation do not reveal repaired accident damage, diagnostic faults or mechanical wear. A personal inspection, diagnostic readout and test drive provide a different level of evidence.

How it works

Inquiry

Vehicle details and location – you receive a non-binding quote.

Appointment on site

At the dealer or private seller in our service area.

Inspection

1–2 hours on site, including test drive where possible.

Report

Detailed written report within 24–48 hours, including repair cost estimate for any defects.

What does an inspection cost?

The price depends on the vehicle, scope, location and any special checks requested. Send us the vehicle details, advertisement link and location; we will provide a non-binding quotation before any assignment is placed.

Arrange access before commissioning

Confirm with the seller that the vehicle, documents and keys will be available and that a test drive and diagnostic check are permitted. This avoids an incomplete inspection.

Problems after the purchase?

Since 2025, privately commissioned reports are admissible documentary evidence in Swiss courts – useful for warranty claims. We document defects and their cause professionally: independent expert reports.
