Independent expert reports
for clarity in your claim
When vehicle value, repair costs or diminished value are in dispute, an independent expert report creates facts – admissible as documentary evidence in Swiss courts since 2025.
When do you need an independent report?
- Dispute about the vehicle value or the repair costs
- Unclear course of the accident
- Diminished value after a repair
- Problems after buying a car (warranty claims)
- Second opinion on an insurer's report
Dispute about vehicle value
A BWR-based valuation checks base value, market, condition, equipment, investments and comparable vehicles.
Repair cost dispute
The report documents the technically necessary repair route, labour, parts, paint and ancillary operations.
Unclear accident sequence
Damage patterns, measurements, photographs and compatibility can help assess whether accounts are technically plausible.
Diminished value
The remaining resale loss after a proper repair is assessed and quantified using the vehicle and damage facts.
Problems after purchase
Defects, prior damage, repair quality and likely cause are recorded for warranty or contractual disputes.
Counter-report
An insurer's or opposing report is checked for omitted positions, assumptions and valuation differences.
Party-commissioned report or court report?
An independent (party-commissioned) report is ordered privately – since 1 January 2025 it counts as a document and admissible evidence in Swiss civil proceedings. A court-appointed expert report is commissioned by the court within proceedings. We prepare both; for court appointments the court must agree.

- Lawyers – expert reports as evidence in proceedings
- Courts – court-appointed expert reports
- Private individuals – independent clarity in their own claim
Costs and approval
The fee depends on scope and complexity and is quoted before commissioning. In insurer disputes, legal expenses insurance often covers a necessary party-commissioned report after prior approval. A court-appointed report is commissioned by the court, not privately ordered as such.
Not sure whether you need a full report?
If you only need the expected repair costs, the digital ClaimTec calculation (from CHF 75.67 incl. VAT) is often sufficient – and can be upgraded to a full report if the case escalates.
